Max Fletcher

Born on a dark and stormy night in Oklahoma, Max received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Oklahoma, Department of Zoology. He then completed post doctoral work at Yale University and University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Max joined the other UTHSC in 2010. His research interests have primarily focused on understanding the basic principles of olfactory coding and how both experience and learning can alter early sensory processing. More recently in collaboration with John Boughter, Max has begun studying basic coding of taste stimuli as well as how coding changes with experience.

When not spending time with his lab family or home family, Max is an avid runner (hoping to someday attempt an ultramarathon), a Marvel and Star Wars enthusiast. Max is also a huge sports fan (BOOMER SOONER) and enjoys watching massive quantities of college football and baseball, much to the displeasure of his family.

Jordan Ross

Jordan is originally from Atlanta, Georgia where she received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Georgia. She moved to Memphis in 2013 before joining the Fletcher Lab in March 2015. Jordan is currently investigating learning-induced changes in olfactory coding primarily using wide-field and 2-photon calcium imaging. After a long day of virus surgeries, she has been seen in the lab sporting dissecting scope “war paint.” When not covered in ancient microscope debris, Jordan enjoys watching college football, cooking, painting, running, and binge watching Netflix!

Stephanie Staszko

Stephanie, originally from the coast of Mississippi, received B.A.s in Psychology and Biology from Ole Miss (Hotty Totty!) in 2014. Since joining the Fletcher/Boughter lab in April 2016, Stephanie has become our resident miniscope expert and computer junkie. She is currently exploring learning-induced changes of taste coding in gustatory cortex. When Stephanie manages to pry herself away from the miniscope-data-computer-screen-vortex, she enjoys gardening, cuddling with her cat, and cheering on Ole Miss and University of Memphis during the fall.

Martin Raymond

Martin2

Martin is from Eastern Michigan and attended Eastern Michigan University, where he received both a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in Experimental Psychology. Martin joined the Fletcher/Boughter Lab in August 2018 to study taste coding using miniscopes. While he doesn’t quite share the southern devotion to sports, he still cheers for Michigan to dribble the ball all the way to the uprights. Martin also enjoys trivia (even sometimes beating his PI, Dr. Boughter) and has a voracious appetite for peeps.

Ian Chapman

Image-10

From Winston-Salem, Ian received his degree from NC State and worked there as a lab technician before moving to Memphis in 2018. He is the most recent addition to the Fletcher Lab, joining in Spring 2019. Ian is interested in examining OB plasticity as a result of olfactory learning. When he hangs up his tie-dyed lab coat for the day, Ian enjoys playing trivia with his fellow first years, watching sports and Game of Thrones, and weirdly enough reading science papers.
